St. Louis Cardinals Announce Jordan Walker Decision Ahead of Rockies Series

The St. Louis Cardinals earned a well-deserved off day on Thursday after beating the New York Yankees in 2 of 3 games over the earlier part of the week.

On Friday, the Cards open up a new series (at home) against the Colorado Rockies.

The Cardinals have been without Jordan Walker since Monday, but before the Rockies series, St. Louis revealed its lineup for game one of the series, and it features a notable Walker decision.

The St. Louis Cardinals are welcoming Jordan Walker back to the batting order on Friday, which is exciting!

Despite being in a little bit of a rough patch, there is still time for the Cardinals to make the MLB playoffs if they finish the season strong. They would need Jordan Walker to be productive in order to do so.

Here’s the full Cardinals batting order for 8/7, courtesy of @UnderdogMLB:

The biggest notable is Jordan Walker batting second and playing right field. Jimmy Crooks will form a battery with Kyle Leahy, and Nathan Church is in the lineup playing SS.

After struggling for the majority of his first three MLB seasons, Jordan Walker has fully burst onto the scene in 2026 for the Cardinals and is a big reason for the success St. Louis has had this season.

He was named an MLB All-Star last month for the first time, and dramatically won the Home Run Derby.

He had been dealing with knee inflammation, and the fact he’s back in the lineup means he avoids an IL stint.

Walker has played 111 games this year, and is batting .285 with 22 home runs, 81 RBI, and an OPS+ of 134.
