The first pitch of Friday night’s game between the New York Yankees and Atlanta Braves at Yankee Stadium has been delayed due to inclement weather, the Yankees announced. The game was originally scheduled to start at 7:05 p.m. EDT.
The New York Yankees wrote on X: “Please be advised we do not intend to start tonight’s game on time. Information will be provided as it is received.”

Meteorologist Kevin Roth was pretty confident the game wouldn’t start on time.
Roth wrote on X (5:50 p.m. EDT): “A couple of games that are not gonna start on time: PHI and NYY. Of the two, I think PHI clears quicker, and is less at risk of a PPD.”
MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch wrote (6:00 p.m. EDT): “The tarp is being rolled out at Yankee Stadium with thunderstorms on the way.”

Max Fried is scheduled to make his first career start against his former team tonight.
The 32-year-old left-hander is 4-3 with a 3.12 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 68 strikeouts in 75 innings across 13 starts this year. He had been on the IL for a large chunk of the season due to a left elbow bone bruise.

Tyler Mahle is scheduled to make his first career start as an Atlanta Brave. The Braves acquired Mahle from the San Francisco Giants at the trade deadline.
The 31-year-old right-hander is 3-9 with a 5.13 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 89 strikeouts in 94 2/3 innings across 18 starts this year.
