A training camp scene involving Seattle Seahawks safety Nick Emmanwori shouldn’t draw anxiety regarding his injury return.
Gregg Bell of The News Tribune posted a six-second video from the Seahawks’ indoor walkthrough on Aug. 6 that showed Emmanwori walking without assistance.
Bell described the second-year defender as “strolling freely” while wearing his preferred Kane recovery shoes.
The sight offered an encouraging contrast to the episode of HBO’s “Hard Knocks” that showed Emmanwori moving around the team facility on a scooter while recovering from ankle surgery.
Bell provided important context in a follow-up post noted that Emmanwori’s conversation with head coach Mike Macdonald was recorded “way early in camp,” well before the episode aired, and added that the safety’s “progress remains positive.”
The video doesn’t set a return date or signal that Emmanwori is ready for full-speed football work.
But it’s a reiteration that his rehabilitation has advanced past the stage presented to viewers earlier in the week.

The “Hard Knocks” scene captured Nick Emmanwori discussing the uneasy side of his recovery with Macdonald. He wanted to be around practice but didn’t like the idea of fans watching him use a scooter when he could not walk normally.
That moment created concern around a player the Seahawks placed on the physically unable to perform list before camp.
Macdonald explained on July 25 that Emmanwori underwent surgery on the same ankle he injured during the week of Super Bowl LX.
Emmanwori managed to play against the New England Patriots and participated in portions of Seattle’s offseason program, but the lingering issue eventually required a longer-term solution.
Macdonald declined to provide a timetable while making clear that the team didn’t view it as a season-ending problem.
Because Emmanwori is on the active/PUP list, Seattle can clear him to practice at any point during camp.
If he remains on the list when the initial 53-man roster is established Aug. 30, however, he must miss at least the first four games.
Walking through the indoor facility represents a much different test than changing direction and absorbing contact.
Bell’s update still gives the Seahawks a visible sign that Emmanwori is moving forward with more than a month left before the opener.

Emmanwori quickly became an exceptional part to Macdonald’s defense after Seattle selected him with the No. 35 pick in the 2025 NFL draft.
He recorded 81 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 11 passes defensed, eight tackles for loss and one interception in 14 regular-season games. He was the NFL’s only player with at least 80 tackles, two sacks, 10 passes defensed and eight tackles for loss.
Emmanwori also started all three postseason games and earned a place on the Pro Football Writers of America All-Rookie Team.
His size and positional flexibility allowed Macdonald to move him between the line of scrimmage, the box and the secondary.
The versatility of Emmanwori and cornerback Devon Witherspoon helped Seattle play the NFL’s highest rate of nickel or dime personnel while allowing a league-low 3.7 yards per rushing attempt last season.
The defending champions open the regular season against the Patriots at Lumen Field on Sept. 9.
That date creates a natural target for Emmanwori, although the Seahawks haven’t publicly said he will be ready.
His upcoming milestone will be removal from the PUP list and a return to practice.
Until then, footage of Emmanwori walking freely should quell fears that he’s behind schedule.
