The Los Angeles Lakers have been busy making moves this offseason, and while the additions and subtractions are important for the team as a whole, the guy they will impact the most is superstar guard Luka Doncic. With LeBron James joining the Philadelphia 76ers in free agency, the Lakers are Doncic’s team now, and the roster is being built to his liking.
While Doncic is preparing for the upcoming season, he’s also been dealing with some off-court issues that have spilled into the public. After splitting with his fiancée, Anamaria Goltes, the pair have engaged in a custody battle for their two children, and while it seemed like the situation was settling in recent days, a new update has completely changed that.
Luka Doncic Has $50 Million Child Support Settlement Filed Against Him
While there was some drama brewing behind the scenes for Los Angeles last season, Doncic enjoyed another excellent year from an individual perspective. He led the league in scoring for the second time in his career (33.5 points per game), while also averaging 8.3 assists per game and 7.7 rebounds per game.
Off the court, though, Doncic was dealing with his split from Goltes. The couple called off their engagement and immediately began custody battle for their two children. However, earlier this week, Goltes withdrew her child support petition, which was filed in L.A., saying she wanted to resolve her dispute with Doncic “amicably and by a mutual agreement.”
That sounds nice, and all, but Goltes’ latest actions have quickly caught the attention of fans. With Doncic saying he believes the matter should be taken care of in his native Slovenia, which is where his two children reside, Goltes promptly filed a $50 million child support settlement in their home country, which is also aiming to reduce his custody of their children from at least two days a week to just one.
“Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ Anamaria has filed a new claim in Slovenia, and she is seeking $40 million for herself. We assume the remaining $10 million is for their two daughters,” TMZ reported. “We’re also told she wants to strip Luka of some of his custody rights. Currently, he has the kids at least 2 days a week, and she wants to reduce it to one day a week.”

Based on Goltes’ latest comments on the matter, it seemed like she and Doncic had found some common ground. Unless the pair have agreed to the terms of this settlement behind the scenes (which seems unlikely, given how Doncic is fighting for more time with his children), this claim goes against pretty much everything she just said.
Doncic has been spending much of his offseason in Slovenia, and he is even set to host his Lakers teammates in his native country before the start of the 2026-27 campaign. However, he has some new drama he has to deal with in this custody battle first, and it will be worth keeping an eye out for his response to Goltes’ bold demands.
