The Arizona Diamondbacks secured a dominant 10-4 victory over the San Diego Padres on Wednesday night.
Ahead of Thursday night’s series finale, manager Torey Lovullo made several notable lineup changes after both Ketel Marte and Nolan Arenado sat out Game 3 of the series.
Diamondbacks Announce Arenado Change
After receiving a day off, Arenado returns to the lineup for the series finale, starting at third base and batting sixth.
Marte also returns to the starting nine and will start at second base while hitting cleanup.
Other notable tweaks from Lovullo include moving Geraldo Perdomo into the leadoff spot, dropping Lars Nootbaar lower in the lineup while shifting him from the outfield to designated hitter, and inserting Max Kepler into the starting lineup after he didn’t start Wednesday.

Arenado’s 2026 Season
Arenado is in his 14th MLB season but his first with the Diamondbacks, and the eight-time All-Star continues to produce at a high level.
Through 108 games and 369 at-bats, Arenado is batting .244 with 53 runs, 90 hits, 16 home runs and 53 RBIs while slugging .428 and posting a .754 OPS.
Diamondbacks Right Now
Arizona enters Thursday with a 61-54 record, sitting second in the NL West, 8.0 games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Diamondbacks have won six of their last eight games, and if the season ended today, they would hold the second National League Wild Card spot. That would set up a best-of-three Wild Card Series against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field.
The Philadelphia Phillies, who currently hold the third and final Wild Card spot, are tied with Arizona in the standings. Both teams lead the San Diego Padres by 2.0 games as they battle for the final two playoff spots.
