The Baltimore Orioles are gearing up for a massive three-game series against the Texas Rangers this weekend on the road.
Baltimore is coming off a series that saw them take two of three games from the Los Angeles Angels. The team will try to keep the winning ways going strong against Texas as the regular season starts to wind down slightly.
The Orioles enter this series with a record of 56-59, sitting in fourth place within the American League East division. Baltimore has gone 5-5 over its last 10 games overall, and the team is in the race for a wild-card spot.
As for the Rangers, they enter this series with a record of 57-58 on the year. Texas is in second place within the AL West, and they are directly above Baltimore in the wild-card standings.
This will be the second meeting between the two sides, with the Rangers taking two of three games back in April.
Orioles vs Rangers Probable Pitchers
Friday, August 7: RHP Shane Baz vs RHP Nathan Eovaldi
Opening the series will be Baz, who has been excellent for Baltimore this year. Overall, Baz has a 3.86 ERA over 22 starts.
The right-hander has helped head up the Orioles rotation, giving them a go-to pitcher. In his last outing against the Philadelphia Phillies, Baz went 6.1 innings, allowing one run on six hits, while striking out four.
Eovaldi will face the Orioles here, with the veteran looking to bounce back. The righty-hander allowed six runs on 10 hits over 5.0 innings against the Houston Astros in his last start.
Saturday, August 8: RHP Kyle Bradish vs RHP Jacob deGrom
Taking the mound for Baltimore will be Bradish, who will try for a better outing this time around. Bradish went 3.0 innings against the Phillies in his last start, allowing two runs on two hits with three strikeouts.
The right-hander has been good for the Orioles this year, posting a 3.79 ERA in 22 starts. Bradish hasn’t been able to go past the 4th inning in each of his last two outings, which should be something to watch.
The Orioles will face deGrom in this series, giving them a nice challenge to face. On the year, deGrom has registered a 3.96 ERA over 21 starts for Texas.
Sunday, August 9: LHP Cade Povich vs RHP Kumar Rocker
Povich takes the ball for the Orioles in the finale, and he’ll be looking for another strong outing. In his last start against the Angels, Povich went six shutout innings, allowing seven hits while punching out seven batters.
The left-hander just about missed three months with left forearm discomfort. Overall, he has recorded a 3.91 ERA over five appearances (four starts) this year.
Going against the Orioles will be Rocker, whose posted a 4.08 ERA this season. In his last start, the right-hander allowed three runs and three hits over 5.1 innings against the Houston Astros.

Sunday’s series finale is scheduled for first pitch at 11:35 a.m. PT/2:35 p.m ET. The game will be broadcast on MASN, Rangers Sports Network, and in the MLB app.
