The Washington Commanders have a few players on the roster who, if they’re out for an extended period of time, might sink an already perilous season looming on the horizon.
NFL All-Pro offensive left tackle Laremy Tunsil is 1 of them.
“Commanders LT Laremy Tunsil will have his injury (appeared to be shoulder/neck) evaluated and tested, source says,” NFL Network’s Mike Garofolo wrote on his official X account on Saturday. “Not sensing any huge panic but the testing will tell the story and I wouldn’t be surprised if he missed some time.”
Tunsil hurt himself during 1-on-1 pass-rush drills against edge rusher Odafe Oweh and had to leave practice on Saturday.
“As others have reported, Commanders LT Laremy Tunsil did leave the field after a one-on-one rep during the early portion of practice,” The Athletic’s Nicki Jhabvala wrote on her official X account on Saturday. “He was examined in the medical tent, then led back up to the team’s facility for further evaluation.”
The Commanders traded with the Houston Texans to obtain Tunsil before the 2025 season, and he turned in arguably the best season of his career — despite the Commanders going 5-12 — and played his way into a 2-year, $60.2 million contract extension on March 9.
Tunsil’s current contract, which runs through 2028, will bring his career earnings total to a staggering $223.8 million.
