The Washington Wizards can be at peace with the way their star point guard, Trae Young, is progressing in the offseason, following his brief five-game stint last season with the team, during which he looked far from himself.
In an Instagram reel posted by Players United (PLYRS UNTD), Young was seen dominating runs alongside other NBA players such as Chet Holmgren of the Oklahoma City Thunder, Michael Porter Jr. of the Brooklyn Nets, Jared McCain of the Thunder, Trey Murphy III of the New Orleans Pelicans, Donovan Clingan of the Portland Trail Blazers, Luka Garza of the Boston Celtics and others.
“Ice Trae was getting BUCKETS at our PLYR UNTD runs 🧊 @traeyoung,” the IG post reads.
The runs took place at the new player-owned, 24/7 centralized training and recovery hub in Los Angeles for NBA players, which opened in August 2026.
PLYRS UNTD is a commercial and lifestyle brand launched by the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) in June 2026. It replaces the union’s former business arm, Think450, to turn the collective name, image, and likeness (NIL) rights of over 500 NBA players into direct business equity, global products, and fan content.
Trae Young’s Brief Stint So Far For The Washington Wizards

In five games with the Wizards since being traded to the team in February, Young averaged 15.2 points, 6.2 assists, and 3.0 rebounds in 20.8 minutes per game while shooting 59.5% from the field.
Young missed the end of the 2025-2026 season due to a right quad contusion and lower back irritation, which was handled conservatively without surgery. Earlier in the season, he also missed time with a right knee MCL sprain
This offseason, Young signed a four-year, $212.8 million contract to stay with the Wizards after declining his $49 million player option. The deal averages roughly $53.2 million per year and includes a player option for the fourth season (2029-2030).
Young is expected to be the leader of the new-look Wizards roster next season led by former NBA champion Anthony Davis and this year’s top pick AJ Dybantsa.

Trae Young has something to prove with the Wizards next season. With many casting doubts on his ability to lead a team, Young says he is ready to prove everyone wrong next season.
“This is the most slept on I’ve been in my whole life,” he said in The Pivot podcast. “Even when I was in high school, I wasn’t this slept on. I felt like I could have been top five in my class; I should have been top 10. No. 1 point guard, I felt like, but I was No. ,4 so was I slept on a little bit maybe.”
“But this, it’s starting to feel a certain way. I’ve learned over the years there’s a lot of recency bias that goes on, especially in media. There’s a lot of recency bias that goes in the media, and I know if we start winning, imagine the Wizards as a No. 1 team in the East next year, what people going to be saying. So, it’s just like I can’t get caught up in what people are saying now, as mad as it makes me and what people say about me is not true.”
The Wizards could see a massive resurgence next season with Young, Davis, and Dybantsa leading the way. But the Eastern Conference remains a tough code to crack.
