There are two major WWE shows remaining this May after Backlash on May 9 in Tampa, Florida. Saturday Night’s Main Event XLIV is scheduled for May 23 and Clash in Italy is set for May 31.
On Monday’s episode of Raw, WWE announced the first two matches for Saturday Night’s Main Event in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
- Logan Paul and Austin Theory (c) vs. The Street Profits for the World Tag Team Championship
- Penta (c) vs. Ethan Page for the Intercontinental Championship
Based on previous SNME events over the past year, there are two more matches likely to be added to the card. Both matches above involve Raw stars, so the other two could involve those from SmackDown.
Logan Paul and Austin Theory vs. The Street Profits
The feud between The Vision’s Logan Paul and Austin Theory and The Street Profits began on Raw after WrestleMania 42. Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins made their return to WWE television by evening the odds for Seth Rollins.
Ford and Dawkins also backed up Joe Hendry, who began mocking Paul with a viral song titled Can We Fire Logan Paul?.
This past Monday on Raw, Ford and Dawkins teamed up with Hendry to take on Bron Breakker, Paul and Theory in a six-man tag team match.
With help from Rollins, Dawkins was able to roll up Theory for the win. But after the match, Breakker hit a spear on Dawkins after The Visionary moved out of the way.
Ford then confronted Rollins for interfering in their match, alluding to what he said last week about staying out of each other’s business.
Penta vs. Ethan Page
Last week on Raw, reigning Intercontinental Champion Penta teamed up with Je’Von Evans to face Ethan Page and Rusev.
After a hard-hitting and back-and-forth match, Rusev took out Penta by slamming him on the announcers table. Page then picked up the champ and hit him with a Fisherman’s Suplex for the win.
It was a statement win by Page and Rusev, boosting All Ego’s resume in just his second week on the main roster.
This week on Raw, Page confronted Penta, using Evans as an excuse why he skipped over Rusev for a shot at the Intercontinental Championship. It led to a brawl and a match between The Young OG and The Bulgarian Brute.
Despite Rusev’s size advantage, Evans was able to get the upset win after hitting the OG Cutter.
Possible Matches to be Added at Saturday Night’s Main Event
Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 23 doesn’t have a marquee match just yet.
It could be from SmackDown based on how storylines have played out since WrestleMania 42.
One match that might happen is Jacy Jayne vs. Jade Cargill vs. Rhea Ripley for the WWE Women’s Champion. Jayne has made a name for herself on SmackDown with help from Fatal Influence.
Cargill wants a rematch against Ripley, attacking the champion last Friday on SmackDown.
Another match could involve The MFTs, possibly Solo Sikoa taking on Royce Keys. The SmackDown newcomer picked up a win over Tama Tonga last Friday.
