New York Yankees Get New Anthony Volpe News Before Astros Series Finale

The New York Yankees have won eight straight MLB games and are one of the hottest teams in baseball. Sitting at 18-9, New York is on the verge of sweeping the Houston Astros. The series finale between the Astros and Yankees is set to take place Sunday afternoon.

Before the Astros series finale, a new report surfaced giving some context about when shortstop Anthony Volpe will return.

Anthony Volpe Set to Return to Yankees on Either Wednesday or Thursday

After the Houston Astros series, the Yankees will face the Texas Rangers for a three-game set that will run from Monday to Wednesday. After that series, the Yankees will take on the Baltimore Orioles.

Per multiple reports, Anthony Volpe will return to the Yankees either on Wednesday or Thursday.

Volpe is currently on a minor league assignment with New York’s Triple-A affiliate. He’s hitting the ball very hard and should be a welcome addition to the Yankees lineup.

Anthony Volpe is a very controversial infielder in the Bronx, and it will be interesting to see how well he performs when he returns. Manager Aaron Boone also has hit plate full with the decisions he can possibly make with Volpe. Because the Yankees are performing so well right now, will the return of Volpe mess up the flow of New York’s current winning streak?

Anthony Volpe has been in Major League Baseball for the last three seasons. He tore his labrum during last season, which may have been the reason for some of his struggles.

Once a top prospect, some Yankees fans aren’t fully convinced that Anthony Volpe is the future at the shortstop position for New York.

In 2025, Volpe hit .212 with 19 home runs, 72 RBI, and 114 hits. However, he also struck out 150 times. In all three MLB seasons for Volpe, he has struck out 150+ times. It’s something he needs to clean up, but if he can hit for the power that he’s displayed, and then hit for a bit of a higher average, Volpe will be a welcome addition to the Yankees.

I can’t be the final verdict on Yankees fans and their thoughts about Volpe’s return, but I’m curious what the masses think about Volpe’s return, and how it may or may not impact this current club.
