The pair became <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/blake-lively-spent-months-preparing-backlash-ahead-filing-lawsuit.html/”>locked in a legal battle</a> in 2024 after working together on <em>It Ends With Us</em>. Baldoni said that he found the experience traumatic. He and his wife, Emily Baldoni, have leaned on their faith throughout it.</p>

<p id=”par-2_25″>While the Baldonis did not speak about the legal proceedings before they settled, they said that this was not because they had something to say.</p>
<p id=”par-3_58″>“Because lord knows we have, but it just felt like every time we went to make a video like this, we wanted to speak, something was telling us not to,” Baldoni said in an Instagram video. “It just didn’t feel like the right time, and we were talking about it and feeling into it and praying about it.”</p>
<p id=”par-4_20″>They both described the case as “traumatic.” Baldoni said that he appreciates the support they received from those around them.</p>
<p id=”par-5_56″>“We are healing,” he said. “If you’ve ever been through something traumatic, you know that healing isn’t linear. It looks different every day. We have had to rethink for ourselves what is real, and what matters. It’s this. It’s our family, it’s our friends, it’s our community, who have been there for us, it’s our faith.”</p>
<p id=”par-6_21″>He said that he and his wife have grown “closer, more devoted, and steadfast in our faith than we’ve ever been.”</p>

In June, she requested $7,495,526.87 in attorneys’ fees and $539,514.01 in litigation costs and expenses. </p>

<p id=”par-8_15″>In a recent filing, Baldoni asked the judge to deny or “substantially reduce” Lively’s request. </p>
<p id=”par-9_38″>“Lively fails to meet her burden to present credible evidence showing that the <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/blake-lively-justin-baldoni-paid-obscene-amount-legal-fees.html/”>fees and costs</a> she seeks to recover are reasonable and, accordingly, her fee motion should be denied in its entirety,” the filing reads, per <a href=”https://people.com/justin-baldoni-challenges-blake-lively-legal-fee-request-12013068″ target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>People</a>.</p>
<p id=”par-10_9″>Because of this, the proceedings between them drag on.</p>

<p id=”par-11_24″>Lively and Baldoni reached a settlement shortly before their <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/blake-lively-justin-baldonis-case-longer-trial.html/”>case went to trial</a>. On May 4, both their attorneys put out a joint statement.</p>
<p id=”par-12_54″>“The end product, the movie <em>It Ends With Us</em>, is a source of pride to all of us who worked to bring it to life,” they said in the statement. “Raising awareness, and making a meaningful impact in the lives of domestic violence survivors, and all survivors, is a goal that we stand behind.”</p>
