Boos rained down hard Friday at Rate Field as it was announced to fans watching the White Sox-Guardians game that the scheduled postgame concert featuring rapper Ja Rule had been canceled.
The bad news flashed on the center field scoreboard in the ninth inning, leading some fans to stream for the exits as the Sox trailed 8-2.
Again, booing — a lot of it.
“Unfortunately, the organization was just made aware that due to unexpected travel issues, Ja Rule is unable to make tonight’s scheduled performance,” the announcement read. “The concert has been canceled. Fans who have tickets to tonight’s game will receive complimentary tickets to a future game. All field passes will be refunded. An email with more information will be sent to ticket holders in the next 72 hours.”
