San Jose: Three dead, two injured in separate incidents during hectic holiday weekend

SAN JOSE — In a particularly violent weekend, three people were shot — one fatally — on Sunday, and a woman was killed by her boyfriend, who later died in a car crash, police said.

The Sunday evening shooting occurred around 8:50 p.m. in a parking lot on the 3000 block of Story Road, where police say one man was killed, one woman was nonfatally injured, and a third woman remains in the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police haven’t announced any arrests in that incident.

That deadly incidents took place roughly 24 hours after a woman was found dead at a home on the 2300 block of Arden Way. Police say they quickly suspected that her boyfriend had killed her, and then fled in a vehicle. Police did not reveal her cause of death.

Before police could arrest the boyfriend, he crashed his car and died, authorities said.

None of the victims — including the name of the man suspected of killing his girlfriend — have been publicly identified. Police say they’re waiting to make sure all the decedents’ families are notified. They represent San Jose’s sixth and seventh homicides of 2024.

Police say anyone with information on the shooting can contact homicide investigators by emailing 4339@sanjoseca.gov and/or 4365@sanjoseca.gov, or by calling 408-277-5283.
