Hailey and Justin Bieber announced Thursday that they are going to be parents, with the model displaying her growing baby bump in a video that also shows the couple celebrating what appears to be a romantic, private vow renewal ceremony.
With this news, the couple are fulfilling hopes that many fans have long had for them, ever since they married in a New York courthouse wedding in 2018, then celebrated with a larger ceremony with family and friends in South Carolina in 2019.
Fans have long looked for signs that Hailey and Justin were ready to start a family. Thursday’s baby news might also quiet reports and rumors of health crises and marriage troubles that have long dogged the couple. Sources told TMZ that Hailey is about six months into her pregnancy.
Starting a family has been a long-time dream for Bieber, 30. The “Baby” singer revealed on the “Ellen DeGenres Show” in 2020 that he hoped to one day have a lot of kids, People reported.
“I am going to have as many (babies) as Hailey is wishing to push out. I’d love to have myself a little tribe,” the “Baby” singer said at the time, People reported. But he also said he wasn’t in a hurry and respected his wife’s timeline.
“But, yeah, it’s her body and whatever she wants to do,” Bieber said. “I think she wants to have a few.”
In Thursday’s video, announcing Hailey’s pregnancy, the couple appear in a scenic rural location, with the 27-year-old model, influencer and Rhode skincare brand founder wearing a veil and a long, lacy white dress that highlights her growing baby bump. TMZ speculated that the Biebers shot the video in Hawaii because they were photographed there on vacation in recent weeks, looking “cute and happy.”
Hailey also included a few photos with her Instagram post, showing her posing for photos taken by Bieber or standing with him in a field. One also shows Bieber standing behind Hailey, with his arms wrapped around her belly and the couple showing off their matching wedding rings. Hailey kept the caption simple, just tagging her husband.
This announcement may not surprise some of the couple’s fervent fans, who wondered in October whether Hailey was expecting, according to People.
in October, she appeared on the cover of GQ Hype and addressed the regular pregnancy rumors, discussing whether or not they bothered her.
“Recently, everybody was like, ‘Oh my God, she’s pregnant,’ and that’s happened to me multiple times before,” she told GQ Hype.
“There is something that’s disheartening about, damn, I can’t be bloated one time and not be pregnant?” Hailey Bieber continued. “It would be a lie if I was like, ‘Oh yeah, I don’t give a (expletive).’”
“When there comes a day that that is true, you, you as in the internet, will be the last to know,” Hailey quipped. But she also said that mother “is something that I look forward to.”
“It’s also such a private, intimate thing,” she said. “It’s something that’s going to come when it comes.”
