LA Daily News boys basketball Top 15 rankings, Jan. 26

The Los Angeles Daily News boys basketball Top 15 rankings for January 26, 2026:

1. Sierra Canyon (20-1): Brannon Martinsen and Brandon McCoy played big in the Trailblazers’ win over Harvard-Westlake on Wednesday to stay unbeaten in the Mission League. With a win over Chaminade Tuesday night, Sierra Canyon will have the No. 1 seed in the league tournament.

2. Notre Dame (17-6): The Knights move up after beating Harvard-Westlake Saturday night on the road 71-66. NaVorro Bowman had 24 of his 26 points in the second half. Josiah Nance pitched in 20.

3. Harvard-Westlake (21-4): It’s very rare to see Harvard-Westlake lose two games in a row, but it happened this week. Another big test coming Tuesday against St. Francis. Wolverines’ resilience will be measured.

4. Loyola (14-13): The Cubs rise in the rankings after taking down St. Francis. Deuce Newt had 26 points in the win Friday night after he had 50 on Wednesday in a win over Alemany. New coach Cam Joyce now has win over Notre Dame and St. Francis.

5. St. Francis (20-6): The Golden Knights are learning how to maintain a high-level play of basketball. 7-foot-4 Cherif Millogo was battling the flu last week and missed some games.

6. Village Christian (19-5): The Crusaders are Division 1 playoff bound. Big game with Heritage Christian on Jan. 31. Village is unbeaten in the Olympic League.

7. Crespi (16-10): The Celts have a big game against Loyola Tuesday. They need a quality win ahead of the Mission League tournament, which starts Thursday.

8. Oaks Christian (20-5): The Lions should take care of business against Agoura and Newbury Park this week, but the showdown with Westlake on Feb. 3 could have some weight to it.

9. Calabasas (16-8): Coyotes are in second place in the Marmonte League with a game against Thousand Oaks set for Friday.

10. Chaminade (21-5): The Eagles are scratching and clawing for their playoff fate, which will likely come by way of an at-large berth.

11. Legacy Christian (17-9): The Lions have one game left against Santa Barbara Bishop Diego on Feb. 2. Then, they pray for an at-large playoff berth as a freelance team with no league.

12. Knight (18-3): No signs of slowing down star Amare Larane. Hawks are 10-0 in the Golden League.

13. Heritage Christian (17-6): The Warriors will make noise in the playoffs regardless of the division, but if they drop to D2, watch out!

14. Westlake (16-9): Huge game against Thousand Oaks Tuesday night with Marmonte League implications.


15. Thousand Oaks (20-3): After losing its first three league games, the Lancers have won four straight.
