Freddie Freeman grand slam highlights Dodgers’ win over White Sox

THE GAME: Freddie Freeman had a grand slam and Shohei Ohtani had two hits as the Dodgers beat the Chicago White Sox, 12-9, on Wednesday afternoon at Camelback Ranch in Glendale, Ariz.

HITTING REPORT: Freeman drove in five of the Dodgers’ runs with his grand slam and a sacrifice fly. … Ohtani had two singles and a walk. He has reached base in 10 of his 18 plate appearances this spring. … Wednesday was the first time Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto were in the Dodgers’ lineup together. … Recently-acquired Andre Lipcius had two hits and drove in a run in his first game with the Dodgers.

PITCHING REPORT: After an impressive first start against the Texas Rangers, Yamamoto was not as sharp against the White Sox. He gave up five runs on six hits and three walks in three innings. … Ryan Brasier gave up a two-run home run to Eloy Jimenez in his one inning. … Joe Kelly, Gus Varland and T.J. McFarland each pitched a scoreless inning.

DEFENSE REPORT: The White Sox’s three-run first inning against Yamamoto included back-to-back infield singles on ground balls to shortstop Gavin Lux and third baseman Max Muncy. On the soft ground ball to Muncy that he charged and bare-handed on the grass, the White Sox baserunner went from first to third because no one covered third base behind Muncy.
