With SummerSlam in the rearview mirror, WWE SmackDown begins its build toward Money in the Bank.
WWE.com has advertised two segments and one match for tonight’s episode live at the Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Kevin Owens is expected to be on SmackDown after his shocking return at SummerSlam. Owens became the No. 1 contender for the Undisputed WWE Championship.
Chelsea Green is also set to celebrate becoming the Interim WWE Women’s Champion. She won the title in a 5-Way Ladder match at SummerSlam.
Jade Cargill and Charlotte Flair are set to face off in a one-on-one match after several weeks of trash talk, attacks and tension.
Tonight’s episode is scheduled to start at 8:00 p.m. EST. It will be televised live on the USA Network in the United States and streamed on Netflix internationally.
WWE SmackDown Preview – August 7, 2026
Plenty of things happened at SummerSlam featuring WWE SmackDown superstars.
Fatal Influence defeated The Bella Twins and Paige in a six-woman tag team match. Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid could be looking at new challengers after Nikki and Brie attacked Paige.
Brie also suffered a shoulder injury during the match and is out for three to six months. Jacy Jayne should also be ready to challenge for a singles title, possibly Tiffany Stratton‘s Women’s United States Championship.
Gunther defeated Nick Aldis in a one-on-one match, with Aldis getting reinstated as SmackDown general manager. The Career Killer failed to become a No. 1 contender after losing to Kevin Owens in the Fatal 4-Way match on Night 2.
CM Punk‘s confrontation with Owens will be a fun one, considering their bitter history during their time at Ring of Honor. It’s also a fresh matchup that should help boost the viewership for SmackDown.
Cody Rhodes, on the other hand, would want to talk about Randy Orton‘s sneak attack at SummerSlam. The two stars finally get a proper and personal feud without the Undisputed WWE Title or Pat McAfee.
Sami Zayn and Finn Balor surely feel cheated after Gunther and Owens were added to their supposed one-on-one match to determine the No. 1 contender for the Undisputed WWE Championship. Zayn, in particular, will likely have a lot of things to say to Aldis.
Chelsea Green’s win weren’t expected by many, making it a feel-good moment of SummerSlam Sunday. Green could get elevated to Undisputed WWE Women’s Champion status following Rhea Ripley‘s announcement that she underwent knee surgery.
Finally, Jade Cargill and Charlotte Flair go toe-to-toe for the first time in a WWE televised match. It’s a dream match for many and could be a show stealer tonight.

- Finn Balor opened the show and was confronted by Sami Zayn. Gunther came out and attacked both superstars.
- Michin and B-Fab w/ Jade Cargill def. Women’s United States champion Tiffany Stratton and Chelsea Green.
- Damian Priest and R-Truth vs. The War Raiders ended in a no-contest after Tama Tonga and Talla Tonga attacked both teams, following instructions from Haku.
- Trick Williams called out Baron Corbin.
- Rey Fenix def. JD McDonagh to retain the AAA Cruiserweight Championship.
- Lash Legend def. Giulia to earn the final spot in the 5-Way Women’s Ladder match for the Interim WWE Women’s Title at SummerSlam.
- CM Punk and Cody Rhodes brawled to end the show.
Last week’s show was held at the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
