Warriors’ Steph Curry Shares Hilarious Plan for Knee Recovery

The Golden State Warriors season is over after Friday night’s 111-96 play-in loss to the Phoenix Suns. Stephen Curry already knows exactly how he plans to spend his summer.

When asked postgame what he needs to do to come back healthy for next season after battling a right knee injury that kept him out for 27 games, Curry did not reach for a medical textbook.

“They say a lot of golf helps my knee,” Curry said. “I heard that was part of the research I did. It was pretty, pretty incredible.”

The room laughed. Curry has more than earned the right to spend his offseason however he wants.

What Curry Said About His Recovery

Behind the humor was a genuine update on where things stand with the knee heading into the offseason. Curry was more detailed when he got to the serious part of his answer.

“It’s mostly rest,” Curry said. “There are some things I can do to prepare myself for next year, which I’ll stay on top of. I think big picture, I don’t think there’s anything. You have to be mindful of how it showed itself this year, knowing there was a clear difference in how I prepared pre-injury and post-injury.”

He went on to outline what the path back looks like.

“The things I’ve been doing recently, I’ll continue to do when it comes to rehab and maintenance,” Curry said. “It is kind of touch and go, but hopefully rest will get me right, going to training camp feeling good, and be able to manage it early in the year. I don’t feel like there’s going to be any real long-term symptoms or anything.”

The last line was the most important one. Curry does not view this as a chronic issue that will define the rest of his career. The plan is rest, maintenance, and a return to training camp feeling right.

A Summer on the Course

Curry is no casual golfer. He won the 2023 American Century Championship, an annual celebrity golf tournament held at Lake Tahoe, and finished fifth in the 2025 event. The idea of him spending his summer on the course is not a stretch by any measure.

Whether or not a full summer of golf constitutes peer-reviewed knee rehabilitation research is another matter entirely. Curry seemed unconcerned about that distinction.

Final Word for the Warriors

The knee kept Curry out for 27 games this season and clearly limited him in stretches after his return. Friday night’s 4-of-16 shooting performance against the Suns, two nights after a vintage 35-point performance in the comeback win over the Clippers, showed how much the long season had taken out of him.

Rest is the right call. Whatever form that takes, the Warriors need Curry healthy and ready for next season. He made clear on Friday that the belief is there.

The golf, presumably, is already booked.
