Seahawks Face Strong Warning on RB Breece Hall Trade Rumors

The Seattle Seahawks have a big hole in their backfield after Kenneth Walker III left in free agency, but the team could have a big chance to replace their Super Bowl MVP.

The Seahawks balked at the asking price for Walker, who instead headed to the Kansas City Chiefs after a successful tenure in Seattle. SI.com’s Michael Hanich suggested the team could replace him by trading for New York Jets running back Breece Hall, but warned that it would come at a high cost.

Seahawks Face Tough Decision on Breece Hall

As Hanich noted, the Jets could be motivated to move on from Hall, who they gave a franchise tag and a $14.293 salary for the upcoming season.

“Hall’s trade value would be incredibly high for the Jets to depart from the 1,000-yard rusher, even without a new deal in place,” Hanich wrote. “The Jets will likely ask for the Seahawks’ first-round pick (No. 32) or a second-round pick and a veteran on an expiring contract. If the Seahawks don’t value the top of the 2026 NFL Draft class as analysts do, they might consider the trade.”

While Hall would be a great replacement for Walker and fill the massive hole in their backfield, Hanich warned that it would not be an easy decision for the Seahawks. Though talented, Hall hasn’t been fully healthy since his rookie season in 2022.

Still, he has been a productive running back and dual-threat out of the backfield, all despite playing on a dysfunctional Jets team.

“It’s going to take some reflection from the front office to decide if they want to give a running back like Hall a $14-to-$15 million annual deal if they weren’t willing to give it to Kenneth Walker III. Walker reportedly didn’t want to return for other reasons. There are some differences between Hall and Walker, however.”

Hanich added that the Seahawks are likely to address their running back situation before the end of the NFL draft, so there could be a ticking clock when it comes to the Hall’s trade rumors.

“While it might be unlikely that the Seahawks might make the shocking trade for Hall, the growing rumors and one-year franchise tag suggest it’s not impossible,” he wrote. “The Seahawks need to ensure they have a reliable starting running back by the time the NFL Draft is over.”

Seahawks Could Find New Rookie Back

The Seahawks could find a cheaper answer in the draft. Rob Rang, reporter for the team’s official website, suggested they could take Notre Dame running back Jadarian Price with their No. 32 overall pick.

“Price would seemingly be a hand-in-glove fit for the Seahawks,” Rang wrote. “An instinctive runner with excellent vision, burst and balance, he is a clean schematic in the wide-zone offense Fleury will keep in Seattle, and he may very well prove an upgrade as a pass-catcher, as well. Under Fleury’s watch, Christian McCaffrey led all NFL running backs last season in receptions (102), receiving yards (924) and receiving touchdowns (seven). The Seahawks, by comparison, didn’t get a single touchdown reception from their backs last year.”
