Patriots Part Ways With Second-Year TE Days After 2026 NFL Draft

The New England Patriots selected tight end Eli Raridon in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft and added a tight end in undrafted free agency. Just days after the draft, that made fellow tight end Marshall Lang expendable for head coach Mike Vrabel.

The Patriots announced Monday they released Lang. They also cut wide receiver John Jiles from the roster.

New England added Lang in October. He experienced two stints on the team’s practice squad during the 2025 campaign. Lang was an undrafted free agent last offseason.

The Patriots signed the tight end to a futures contract in February after the Super Bowl.

Lang played college football at Northwestern. In 51 games, he recorded 48 catches for 491 yards and four touchdowns. He also had one rushing attempt for three yards.
