New York Yankees Manager Aaron Boone Provides New Carlos Rodon Update

The New York Yankees will be welcoming two additions to the starting rotation soon in the form of Gerrit Cole and Carlos Rodon. Despite being without Rodon and Cole, the Yankees’ rotation is already one of MLB’s best, and will obviously only get better.

Behind Max Fried as the team’s ace, Will Warren and Cam Schlittler have really emerged as strong starters for New York, which has led to the Yanks being one of the best teams in the AL. Before the Yankees’ upcoming game against the Texas Rangers, a notable Carlos Rodon update emerged, per Aaron Boone.

Per Yankees manager Aaron Boone, Carlos Rodon will make two more rehab starts, with the first being on Thursday.

Boone also noted last week that Carlos Rodon is a little bit ahead of his rehabilitation process than is Gerrit Cole, so it’s probably safe to assume Rodon will make his season debut before Cole.

It will be very interesting to see what the Yanks do when both Rodon and Cole come back, and who gets pushed out of the fold when they return.

One thing is certain, though: New York has quite the rotation. If Will Warren and Cam Schlittler are the fourth and fifth starters, and Max Fried is the ‘co-ace’, that’s going to be tough for opposing lineups.

Yankees Right Now…

The Yankees have a lot of moving parts with the pitching staff right now. Luis Gil was just sent down to Triple-A due to his struggles.

Elmer Rodriguez is also being called up to make his MLB debut, as Will Warren’s spot in the rotation is being shuffled for his next start.

It’s fair to assume that Ryan Weathers will then be moved to the bullpen after Rodon’s return.

Again, the Yankees already have one of the best 1-2 starters in MLB, and it will be scary hours once Gerrit Cole and Carlos Rodon return.
