Magnitude 3.0 earthquake shakes Discovery Bay

DISCOVERY BAY — A magnitude 3.0 earthquake shook the East Bay on Thursday night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake struck just before 10 p.m. nearly a mile southwest of Discovery Bay, the USGS reported.

There were no reports of injuries or damage.

In addition to Discovery Bay, the earthquake was felt in San Ramon and Oakley, the USGS reported.

It was the second night in a row that a magnitude 3.0 earthquake or greater was reported near Discovery Bay. On Wednesday, a magnitude 3.5 quake hit one-tenth of a mile east-southeast of the town.

The USGS said that earthquake was felt as far away as Novato in the North Bay, Orangevale in Sacramento County, Manteca in the Central Valley and San Jose in the South Bay.
