Los Angeles Lakers Announce Concerning Injury Report For Game Vs Pacers

The Los Angeles Lakers are coming off a defeat to the Detroit Pistons, a game that ended their season-high nine-game winning streak.

In that loss, the Lakers were without both Marcus Smart and Rui Hachimura, as the two were out with ankle and calf injuries, respectively.

Now, in the lead-up to the team’s Wednesday night game against the Indiana Pacers, the Lakers have announced an updated injury report.

Marcus Smart Lakers injury report

GettyPHOENIX, ARIZONA – FEBRUARY 26: Marcus Smart #36 of the Los Angeles Lakers during the second half of the NBA game at Mortgage Matchup Center on February 26, 2026 in Phoenix, Arizona. The Suns defeated the Lakers 113-110.

According to the team, Smart, Hachimura, and Adou Thiero are all listed on the injury report before their contest against the Pacers.

Hachimura is listed as questionable with right calf soreness. He had the same status in the lead-up to their Monday night game against Detroit, but was later ruled out. The injury isn’t expected to be too serious, per head coach JJ Redick.

“JJ Redick says Rui Hachimura was hit in his right calf in the Miami game and it tightened up on him in the Orlando game. He had a MRI that came back clean. He is day to day, per Redick,” Dave McMenamin wrote in a post on X.

Smart’s status is a bit more worrysome, as ‘doubtful’ is usually a precursor for a player being ruled out. The Lakers were without Smart as well on Monday, a key figure typically featured in the starting lineup.

“Redick added that Marcus Smart is dealing with a right hip issue from the Orlando game as well as the right ankle from the collision with Goga Bitadze,” McMenamin wrote in a separate post.  “Redick said Smart is also day to day.”

As for Thiero, he’s seen limited action for the Lakers in his rookie season, as he’s bounced back and forth from the G-League in his first NBA campaign. He missed a decent chunk of the start of the year with a knee injury, the same one impacting his status for Wednesday.

Maxi Kleber returned for Los Angeles on Monday after out for more than two weeks with a back injury. He’s not featured on the Lakers injury report against Indiana.

Lakers Winning Streak Snapped

While Luka Doncic has been playing arguably the best basketball of his career, cementing himself as an MVP candidate, the Lakers were on a roll.

They won nine in a row, and in a game against Detroit who was playing without franchise star Cade Cunningham, Los Angeles expected to make it a ten-game winning streak.

But depite it being a close game all night, a contest that even saw the Lakers holding a lead with less than a minute to go, they fell three points short, and their winning streak was snapped by the top team in the Eastern Conference.

Doncic had a chance to tie the game in the final seconds, but missed. He finished with 32 points, seven rebounds, and six assists, continuing his run as one of the best offensive players in the league today.

After the loss, the overall sentiment was that the Lakers were happy with the effort, as it proved they are true title contenders, despite the massive concerns about the team earlier in the year.

“We’re a good basketball team,” Redick said postgame, per McMenamin. “I believe that we’re a good basketball team. I thought we could be a good basketball team the entire season. We saw flashes of it. We saw short stretches of it, but we’re a good basketball team.”

Now, despite the Lakers’ injury report, they’ll have a chance to bounce back against the Pacers, who currently have the worst record in the NBA.
