Greg Biffle’s Legacy Spotlighted in “Race for the Seat” Hall of Fame Episode
Greg Biffle was featured prominently in Episode 6 of Kaulig Racing and Ram Trucks’ “Race for the Seat.” Biffle spoke to the group of drivers and gave them a tour of the NASCAR Hall of Fame. The episode is dedicated to Biffle’s memory.
“IN MEMORY OF GREG BIFFLE
1969–2025
NASCAR legend Greg Biffle hosted our drivers at the NASCAR Hall of Fame in November of 2025.
All of us at RAM, Kaulig Racing, and Thrill Sports dedicate this episode to the memory of Greg Biffle and his family.”
During the visit, Biffle outlined the path that shaped his career.
“I started racing NASCAR in 1998. I ran the Truck Series for three years and won the championship, then competed in the Xfinity Series for two years and won that championship as well. After that, I raced in the Cup Series for 13 years.”
Standing beside one of his title-winning vehicles, he added, “This truck behind me is the one I won the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship with.”
Biffle also looked ahead while addressing the prospects.
“Welcome to the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Maybe one of you will be here one day. I’m hoping I will be too, but today I’m here to talk a little about my experiences.”
He encouraged patience and awareness on track.
“When you get into these races, keep your wits about you and focus on gaining experience. Running every lap is the most important thing, even if it turns into a bad day.”
“I’ve seen a lot of drivers lose focus. They win a few races and get overconfident. Don’t forget how hard you worked to earn that opportunity.”
“Give it 100 percent of your effort and keep digging.”
Fatal Plane Crash and NTSB Investigation Findings
The crash occurred on December 18, 2025, near Statesville Regional Airport in North Carolina. A Cessna Citation 550 went down about 1,030 feet short of the runway and caught fire on impact. Investigators reported no engine malfunctions.
Seven people died in the accident: Biffle, his wife Cristina Grossu, their children Emma, 14, and Ryder, 5, pilots Dennis and Jack Dutton, and family friend Craig Wadsworth.
Witnesses said the aircraft struggled in poor visibility. Officials later identified electrical failures that affected instruments, including the left-side altitude indicator and the airspeed gauge.
The National Transportation Safety Board released a preliminary report on January 30, 2026. Investigators stated that co-pilot Jack Dutton lacked the qualifications required to operate the Cessna Citation 550, which violated Federal Aviation Administration rules. Authorities also cited communication lapses with air traffic control.
Officials confirmed that Biffle was not piloting the aircraft. The agency expects the whole investigation to take 12 to 18 months.
Memorial Service and Reported Break-In
NASCAR hosted “A Gathering in Remembrance” on January 16, 2026, at Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte. Hundreds attended, and organizers livestreamed the service for fans worldwide.
Speakers included Phil Parsons, Jeff Burton, and Biffle’s daughter, Jordyn Biffle Carpenter. The ceremony honored all seven victims through tributes and shared memories from across the racing community. Country artist Morgan Wallen performed during the event.
Authorities also reported a burglary at Biffle’s Mooresville home overnight between January 7 and 8, 2026. Thieves took $30,000 in cash, two Glock handguns, a backpack, and NASCAR memorabilia from a safe.
Police released surveillance footage on January 21 and asked the public for information. Family members Cathy Rose Grossu and Jordyn Biffle Carpenter reported the incident. Investigators have not announced any arrests.
