Eagles RB Saquon Barkley Sends Strong Message on Bears QB Caleb Williams

Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams continues to garner high praise from executives, coaches, teammates, and even other star players around the league, and Philadelphia Eagles star running back Saquon Barkley is the latest to share his thoughts on Chicago’s franchise QB.

Appearing on the UpAndAdamsShow with Kay Adams, Barkley was asked about his thoughts on Williams becoming the latest cover athlete for Madden and why he believes he earned that recognition, with Barkley saying, “I think Chicago is a great city. I think he’s a great player. I don’t think, I know he’s a great player.”

Saquon Barkley on Caleb Williams: ‘It Can Get Scary If He Reaches the Level I Think He Can Get to’

Continuing on his thoughts, Saquon Barkley added this to say about Caleb Williams:

“I think it can get scary if he reaches the level I think he can get to. Hopefully it’s not anytime soon. Because he’s on the NFC. But it’s cool what he was able to do in the playoffs and the plays that he was able to make throughout the season, the flash plays he was able to make.”

Williams finished the 2025 season with 330 pass completions for 3,942 yards, 27 passing touchdowns, seven interceptions, 388 rushing yards, and three rushing TDs.

While it’s great having a quarterback who hasn’t missed a game in the NFL, he’ll have to work on his completion percentage (58.1%) and playing at a high level throughout the course of a game.

Barkley went on to congratulate Williams on being on the cover of Madden 27 as someone who was recently on the cover himself, saying, “Caleb, congratulations on joining the fraternity. It’s a special group. I wish nothing but the best for you. Besides, I think Week 3 and I think in the playoffs. I feel like that’s a team that, if we want to get to where we want to get to, you have to see them again.”

The Bears are playing against the Eagles in Week 3, September 28th, in what should be an electric Monday Night Football matchup.

Mike Sando of The Athletic released an article with 50 executives and coaches ranking the top 35 veteran quarterbacks in the NFL, with Caleb Williams placing 11th, tied with San Francisco 49ers QB Brock Purdy.

“I’ve got all these cutups on him, and I’m going, ‘This guy is special,’” one anonymous head coach said. “He makes unbelievable throws, and he’s fearless.”

Sando added that every player ranked above Williams earned at least one Tier 1 vote, yet Williams did not earn a single Tier 1 vote. However, he did add that some people believe that will change after this season.

“I think Caleb’s going from a 2 to a possible 1,” one executive said. “A couple of plays he made late in the year and then in the playoffs, not many people can make those plays. You saw it get better and better as they progressed.”
