Drake Maye Sends Heartfelt Message to New England Fans Ahead of Super Bowl LX

There’s no question that Drake Maye has risen above the level of star NFL player in the New England area in the last six months. He’s become a cultural icon within the northeast as he and the Patriots have gone on their run to the Super Bowl; so much so that a town in Massachusetts temporarily changed its name from “Maynard” to “Mayenard,” just for the Super Bowl.

That love from the communities isn’t lost on New England’s phenom QB.

“The way the Boston-New England area has embraced me and embraced us this year has just been special,” Maye said. “There’s no better fanbase I’d rather play for.”

He’s been all the buzz on social media as well, sparking fan accounts for himself and his teammates. The one that’s gained the most traction has been “drakemayelover,” which has gained 382,000 followers. It posts memes and funny clips of Maye, and even has a Drake Maye merchandise shop attached to the account.

“The ‘I heart Drake Maye’ shirts are hilarious, I think it’s something that even my wife has started to wear even though I try to tell her not to wear it,” Maye joked.

Maye and Patriots Not Taking Super Bowl For Granted

Despite all the outside noise about New England having an easy schedule, Maye still believes his team is more than capable of getting the job done on the biggest stage in football.

“We came out here for a reason,” Maye said. “We came out here to win the football game, and win the Super Bowl, and knowing that all my chips are going towards that. And knowing that’s the most important thing right now…”

It hasn’t just been Maye carrying the load throughout the playoffs; on the contrary, he’s actually struggled in each of the three playoff games the Patriots have played so far. It’s been New England’s defense that has stepped up to win them each of their games up to this point.

In the Wild Card round, the defense sacked Justin Herbert six times as they held the Los Angeles Chargers to just three points. In the Divisional round, the defense picked off Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud four times, once for a pick-six. Against Denver, the defense stood tall, only allowing seven points in what became a blizzard in the second half.

Maye Ready to Go For Super Bowl LX Despite Shoulder Injury

Maye has been dealing with a lingering shoulder injury in the last few weeks, though most are unsure of when he first sustained it. Regardless, Maye isn’t letting it hold him back heading into the biggest game of his life.

“I turned a corner landing on the flight [to San Francisco on Sunday],” Maye said. “I felt good from the flight and throwing out there today, I think it turned the corner, and I really had no doubt being 100% for the game, this is the Super Bowl. We get two weeks to prepare for it and do whatever we got to do to get it right. I’ve got confidence and feel good.”
