The results showed Ronaldo racked up a 100 of 100 score, beating Messi, who managed an 89.8 score. The Al Nassr star has accrued over 12 million Wikipedia views, with over 14K news mentions. As for the Betting Search Index, Cristiano Ronaldo scored 214.09.
As the study noted, Ronaldo’s popularity only gained momentum during the FIFA World Cup 2026.
“Cristiano Ronaldo is the most trending player in sportsbooks. His betting search index of 214 is more than twice that of Messi’s, despite the Argentinian already scoring 7 goals at the ongoing World Cup. Ronaldo has been playing in Saudi Arabia’s Pro League since 2023, which would normally reduce a player’s popularity. But his Wikipedia page still gets viewed 12 million times to this day, while international media published 14K+ stories about him last year alone.”
