Boston Red Sox Make Roman Anthony Decision After Alex Cora News

Things are changing in the Boston Red Sox organization. After Boston’s 17-run performance on Saturday afternoon, manager Alex Cora has been fired, and Chad Tracy has been named as the interim manager for now, but one can assume a managerial search is underway in Boston.

The huge offensive showing on Saturday is a good sign for the Red Sox, who desperately need to pick up wins. On Sunday, the Red Sox will play a rubber match with the Baltimore Orioles to decide the series. Before that rubber match, a Roman Anthony lineup decision was made.

In the first game of a new managerial regime, Roman Anthony is back in the lineup after dealing with a sore back. The back issue left Anthony sidelined for four games, but no IL stint is needed, and Anthony made it clear that his is a separate issue from his back problems last season.

The report is per MassLive.com’s Chris Cotillo.

Anthony also indicated to reporters that he’s feeling good.

The Red Sox were off to a 10-17 start when Alex Cora was fired, and it will be interesting to see if the recent managerial changes make any difference in the standings. Boston is currently looking up at every one of their division foes in the American League East.

Roman Anthony is in just his second year in MLB.

The Red Sox inked him to a nine-year, $130 million contract last season.

In 2026, Anthony has played in 22 games and posted a batting average of .225 with one home run, three doubles, and 18 hits. This back issue may be hindering his recent performance, but it’s a welcome sign to have him back in the lineup, as the Red Sox need a power presence at the top of the order.

The Alex Cora decision has sent shockwaves throughout Major League Baseball,  and again, it will be interesting to see if it has any effect on any of the current players and if the Red Sox can turn things around after a dreadful start.

Roman Anthony is the prized possession of the Red Sox franchise, so it’s probably best to make sure he is fully healthy before running him back out there, which seems to be the case.
