After the streamer’s co-CEO, Ted Sarandos, <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/netflix-boss-makes-another-move-distance-himself-meghan-markle.html/”>unfollowed the duchess on Instagram</a> and the company <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/meghan-markle-suffers-setback-netflix-cuts-ties-as-ever-brand.html/”>ended its partnership</a> with her As Ever brand, the Sussexes are still going to produce content for the streaming giant. </p>
<p id=”par-2_27″>According to <a href=”https://deadline.com/2026/03/prince-harry-meghan-markle-polo-drama-netflix-fake-empire-1236763519/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Deadline</a>, the former working royals are honoring their Netflix deal with a collab between Archewell Productions and Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage’s Fake Empire. </p>
<p id=”par-3_44″>The outlet reported that the new series will be a scripted drama written by Francisca X. Hu and “The drama is believed to stem from the docuseries <em>Polo, </em>which followed the teams competing at the U.S. Open Polo Championship held in Wellington, and the family dynasties involved.”</p>

<p id=”par-5_78″>Following this news, social media lit up with many wondering why the duke and duchess “haven’t learned” and are going to produce another program based on the same subject that flopped. <em>Polo</em>, which was released in December 2024, did not rank high on the list of Netflix’s most-watched shows. It didn’t land in the Top 50, the Top 100, or even the Top 1000. It ranked 3,436th among all Netflix productions in 2025 via the “What We Watched” report. </p>
<p id=”par-6_52″>One X user wrote, “What in the absolute world?? Revisiting polo … because the first time sparked absolutely no curiosity? At some point, you have to question whether this is content strategy or just contract fulfillment. It’s neither, so it’s money being thrown at the wall when the results will be 0.”</p>

Some clearly feel that any deal with them is largely worthless but someone, I imagine Bela Bajaria, is determined to stick with them no matter how much money is wasted.”</p>
