According to a post by the Atlanta Falcons’ X account, they have made the following transactions:

The Atlanta Falcons selected Troy Andersen with their 2nd round-pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Troy Andersen is now eligible to be signed by any of the 32 NFL teams.

Andersen, 27, has battled constant injuries in his NFL career thus far, which has limited him to just 26 games in three seasons.

He did not play at all in 2025 and appeared in just seven games (four starts) in 2024. He played collegiately at Montana St.

As Meirov outlined, across those 26 total games played, Andersen has one interception, 0.5 sacks, 135 total tackles (including 69 as a rookie in 2022), five tackles for loss, and five quarterback hits thus far in his career.

Falcons.com writer Will McFadden wrote (about the Troy Andersen release):

“In Week 4 of the 2024 season, Andersen delivered a crucial pick-six, the first of his career, to help Atlanta beat New Orleans 26-24. He was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance, which also included a career-best 16 tackles, a pass breakup and a tackle for loss. Andersen left that game early due to a knee injury and missed the next five contests. He returned for three games later during the 2024 season, including a start in Week 14 against Minnesota, but he ultimately ended the season on injured reserve.”

He went undrafted out of Southeastern Missouri St., and has six total receptions in his 4-year career for 60 yards and three touchdowns.
