Driver, vehicle sought after fatal hit-and-run crash on I-80

SAN FRANCISCO — A pedestrian died early Monday following a hit-and-run crash near the Bay Bridge, the California Highway Patrol said.

The collision happened about 2:20 a.m. on westbound Interstate 80 near the 4th Street on-ramp, according to early reports confirmed by the CHP.  The pedestrian died at the scene.

The CHP said it still was seeking the driver and the vehicle that hit the pedestrian.

The collision shut down all lanes of the westbound freeway for the investigation. All lanes were re-opened about 4:45 a.m.
