Man killed, another wounded in West Garfield Park shooting

A man was killed and another wounded in a shooting late Friday in West Garfield Park.


Officers responded about 11 p.m. to the 3800 block of West Monroe Street, where they found Jacquell Phillips, 28, in the street with multiple gunshot wounds, according to Chicago police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Phillips was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital, officials said.

Officers later found out that a 32-year-old man also suffered a gunshot wound to his knee in the shooting, police said. He took himself to Rush Hospital, where he was listed in good condition.


No arrests were reported.
