Person arrested for fatally shooting man who stabbed woman in Englewood

A person was arrested after fatally shooting a man who allegedly stabbed another woman Friday night in Englewood on the South Side.

A 22-year-old woman and a man were arguing inside a home in the 400 block of West Marquette Road around 10:55 p.m. when the man pulled out a sharp object and stabbed the woman in the abdomen, Chicago police said.

The man, 36, then pulled the 22-year-old outside of the home, according to police.

Police said a female inside the home, whose age wasn’t known, witnessed the altercation and shot the man in the chest. He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. His name hasn’t been released.

The 22-year-old was taken to the same hospital in good condition, police said.


Officers arrested the female and recovered the gun, police said. Charges were pending.
