Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run crash in Lake Balboa

A man was killed in a hit-and-run crash by the driver of a silver SUV in the area of Woodley Avenue and Burbank Boulevard in Lake Balboa on Friday night, May 3, authorities said.

Los Angeles police responded to a call of a crash involving the SUV and a pedestrian just after 8:10 p.m. in the Sepulveda Basin area and found the man, believed to be 45 years old, lying in the roadway, spokesman Officer J. Chaves said.

Whether the man was pronounced dead at the scene or was taken to a hospital was not immediately disclosed.

Officers learned the man was hit by a silver SUV, which was last seen with front-end damage traveling northbound on Woodley toward Victory Boulevard, Chaves said.

Further details regarding the circumstances of the crash were not yet known.

The man’s identity was not made public by police pending notification of his relatives.
