CSUN’s Institute for Sustainability holds annual EV car show and draws a crowd

CSUN’s Institute for Sustainability annual EV car show drew a crowd on sunny Wednesday, April 17, where the lucky few had a chance to “experience the thrill” of the powerful Porsche launch control system with a professional driver, and test driving in other electric vehicles provided by Galpin Motors and Lucid.

A statement by CSUN noted that, “As gas prices continue to rise and state leaders push to move away from gas-powered cars, interest in electric vehicles continues to grow.”

It was CSUN’s third annual car show, on campus next to the University Student Union on the corner of Lindley Avenue and Vincennes Street.  It included a panel discussion about the future of EV focused on careers in the industry and featured representatives from Porsche, Lucid and Chargie. Chargie is developing a network of charging stations nationwide.

“The entire event is reflective of the CSUN commitment to sustainability,” said Yan Searcy, dean of CSUN’s College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, home of the Institute for Sustainability, in a prepared remark. “Our Institute for Sustainability is advancing the mission by community outreach and bringing the community to campus. We want to generate excitement about transportation options and promote careers in the green economy.”
