Man dies, San Bernardino County sheriff’s detective shot during an investigation in Littlerock

A man died and a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department detective was hospitalized after a shooting during a Sheriff’s Department investigation in Littlerock.

The shooting occurred just before 3:15 p.m. while sheriff’s detectives were conducting a search warrant operation near Avenue R and 130th Street East, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, which is assisting with the investigation.

A man, whom the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department referred to as a suspect, died at the scene. The detective was hospitalized and described as in stable condition. Sheriff Shannon Dicus, who visited the detective in the hospital, said he was doing “fairly well.”

The investigation was ongoing.


Officials did not immediately share additional information, including what led up to the shooting, a motive in the case and if the deceased man was shot.
