Yankees’ Carlos Rodon Shares Injury Update After Setback During Rehab

The New York Yankees have raced out of the gate to a 7-1 start in the 2026 campaign, making them the hottest team in the majors. Despite concerns about the team after a fairly quiet offseason, the Yanks have proven that they mean business early on this season, with their pitching staff dominating the rest of the league.

What makes the Yankees’ hot start even more encouraging is the fact that they have done this without some of their top pitchers, Gerrit Cole and Carlos Rodon. The hope is that both guys will be back on the mound soon, but Rodon recently suffered a setback in his injury rehab that quickly concerned fans. However, according to the man himself, it doesn’t sound like anything to be worried about.

Carlos Rodon Addresses Injury Setback

After a pair of relatively disappointing seasons to begin his tenure with the Yankees, Rodon enjoyed the best year of his career with New York in 2025. Rodon made 33 starts for the Yanks, posting an 18-9 record with a 3.09 ERA and 203 strikeouts. With Cole missing the entire year, Rodon’s reemergence as a frontline starter was a difference-maker for the team.

Over the offseason, Rodon underwent surgery on his elbow, with the hope being that he would be ready for the start of the regular season. Ultimately, the Yankees opted to play things safe with Rodon, as they have been slowly ramping him up, with a return at some point in April not being off the table just yet.

Everything seemed to change when Rodon was reported to be dealing with right hamstring tightness last week. While the team and its fans feared this would result in more time away from the mound for Rodon, it seems to have been a minor bump in the road, as he was able to get back on the hill over the weekend.

Carlos Rodón expects to be back on the mound Saturday after dealing with right hamstring tightness following a workout on Tuesday,” Dan Martin and Mark W. Sanchez wrote for The New York Post. “Rodón, in The Bronx for the Yankees home opener, called it ‘hopefully just a little bump in the road.’”

Yankees Hoping to Get Carlos Rodon Back in the Near Future

Rodon’s absence was expected to cause some problems for New York early in the season, but the starting rotation has been nearly flawless in his absence. Max Fried and Cam Schlittler have both hurled a pair of shutout performances to begin the year, while Will Warren and Ryan Weathers have held down the fort at the backend of the rotation.

With Cole and Rodon both trending towards joining this group in the near future, the Yankees may very well end up featuring the best starting rotation in the majors this season. New York’s healthy starters have bought Rodon some time when it comes to his quest to return to the majors, but it’s clear that the team wants to build off of its strong start to the season by getting him back in action as soon as possible.
