Warriors Reveal Major Update on Jimmy Butler, Moses Moody Injuries

The Golden State Warriors are trying to gain some momentum before closing out a remarkably testy season.

Golden State has had virtually the worst-case scenario hit the franchise this season with multiple key players lost. The injury-bug has directly contributed to the Warriors being locked into the 10th seed.

The season flipped on its head the night of Jan. 19. Star swingman Jimmy Butler went down with a torn ACL, a devastating injury for anyone, let alone an aging star.

A couple of months later, pretty much the entire basketball world held its breath the night rising star guard Moses Moody went down with a patellar tendon rupture. It looked as gruesome as an injury can get.

That’s not to mention the ongoing Stephen Curry shutdown. The 38-year-old Warriors star hasn’t played NBA basketball in over 60 days and counting. He has missed 27 games in a row — and perhaps counting, though there is growing hope Curry will play Sunday against the Houston Rockets.

When the cards are laid out in such a way, all a team can do is put its head down and try to get the most it can out of the season.

The Warriors’ 2025-26 campaign may very well be over in a matter of days if they lose their opening play-in game in less than two weeks.

While fans are dug in trying to learn when Curry will make a desperately-needed return, they haven’t forgotten about the team’s fallen soldiers.

Entering the year, the franchise was hopeful this season had something promising in store.

This was supposed to be the first full year of Curry and Butler, perhaps creating magic as one of the best tandems in pro basketball. This was supposed to be the year of explosive offense and stingy defense. The year of promising title hopes.

None of that happened, much to the dismay of everyone in the Bay. But to call this season even remotely over simply isn’t true because of what the Warriors have in hand.

That noted, Golden State is perhaps still thinking ahead to next year, when it hopes everyone will be back healthy. While it is way too early to tell when the injured stars will make a return, head coach Steve Kerr provided an encouraging update yesterday.

Moses is in a good space,” Kerr said. “He said the surgery went really well, he’s in good spirits. Jimmy came by on our last trip, to say hi to everybody in Washington. He said he’s going to be back.”

Dubs’ future remains uncertain with no timeline on Butler, Moody

At this point, no one knows what this team will look like on opening night next season.

Will a surprise offseason move take place? The franchise has rumored interest in stars Kawhi Leonard and LeBron James, not to mention the constant swirl around the potential of a Curry-Giannis Antetokounmpo pairing.

What will Kristaps Porzingis decide to do? He has a decision to make concerning where he wants to play next season.

What will Curry demand of his team? Dare we say he gives an ultimatum that either pull off a trade for a superstar … or move me?

Butler and Moody will almost certainly not be ready for the first game of the 2026-27 season. An ACL tear is notorious for taking at least a year to recover from. As for Moody, his recovery timeline is projected to fall somewhere between six and 12 months

Safe to say an interesting offseason awaits the Warriors after their season wraps up sometime this month.
