U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert has been granted a temporary restraining order against her ex-husband, Jayson, after alleging he took and destroyed items from her Silt home and has threatened her, according to Garfield County court records.
The Friday filing is the most recent in a series of clashes between the former couple, who divorced in October after 18 years of marriage. They share four children and a grandchild.
The 37-year-old congresswoman’s motion for a temporary protection order referenced two January incidents for which Jayson Boebert, 43, is facing criminal charges, including obstructing a police officer, harassment and assault.
Jayson Boebert allegedly argued with Lauren Boebert at a Silt restaurant on Jan. 6, called the police and claimed she hit him and then refused to leave when police arrived.
In the Friday court filing, Lauren Boebert alleged that Jayson Boebert told her that he wanted her to receive negative news coverage after he called the police that night.
In a second incident, Jayson Boebert allegedly got into a physical fight with his 18-year-old son on Jan. 9 while drunk and then grabbed a rifle when his son called the sheriff’s office.
Lauren Boebert, a Republican, represents the 3rd Congressional District and was narrowly reelected in 2022. In late December, she announced she would run for election in the 4th Congressional District this year, stating her decision was in part due to wanting “a fresh start following a difficult year for me and my family.” She also said recently that she has moved to Windsor in the 4th District.

According to the motion filed Friday, Boebert is seeking a restraining order for her and her four children, three of whom are younger than 18, on the grounds of stalking and the threat of physical assault.
In the filing, she alleged that Jayson Boebert informed her by text message that her he entered her Silt home on Friday morning without permission, removed her personal belongings and destroyed them.
He also has “made multiple suicidal threats and threats to harm me over the past 14 months,” Lauren Boebert wrote in the filing.
A judge granted the temporary restraining order for Lauren Boebert and her three minor children later that day. Jayson Boebert is set to appear in court on the restraining order on Thursday.
