During his decade-long stint in WWE, AJ Styles became a Grand Slam champion and competed in nine WrestleMania events. From his electric debut at the 2016 Royal Rumble to his retirement match at the same event ten years later, AJ Styles ranked among the top performers in the promotion.
His technical ability was second to none, and the Phenomenal One delivered countless memorable moments.
As announced by The Undertaker, AJ Styles will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 2026.
Now that AJ Styles is done beating up on all the main event talent, WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque has revealed a potential scouting and development role for the high-flying legend.
While appearing on Cody Rhodes’ podcast, Levesque hinted that Styles isn’t done with the company and could return as an NXT instructor.
“Towards the end, AJ was like, ‘I don’t want to just be done with the business—I want to be done wrestling.”
AJ Styles Could Return as NXT Instructor
Levesque added that WWE worked diligently to find a role that suits Styles.
“Being an agent or producer is a different world than being in what we do. There are different fits for different people. AJ came in, he sat in on some creative meetings, he sat in on some production meetings, and I think he realized the writing thing’s not for him, the producer thing isn’t for him. What he really likes is getting to these young kids, spotting talent, and trying to help fan the flames of that little spark and turn it into something more—the developmental side.”
For Styles, a developmental role would be perfect. As one of the most technically sound fighters in history, Styles would be an ideal mentor for future WWE stars.
Last year, rising talent Leon Slater and Je’Von Evans praised Styles for his constant mentorship.
Should Styles return as an instructor, he could join NXT, which has become a breeding ground for WWE stars.
AJ Styles Would be a Perfect Fit With NXT
NXT, which airs weekly on The CW, is WWE’s developmental show. Before earning a spot on the WWE main roster, talent fight through the NXT ranks to prove their worth.
In recent years, NXT has been a massive well of talent for WWE. Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens and Roman Reigns are notable NXT alumni.
More recently, WrestleMania 42 participants Trick Williams, Je’Von Evans and Oba Femi all got their start in NXT.
The brand is led by wrestling savant Shawn Michaels, who serves as the Senior VP of Talent Development. With the addition of Styles, NXT talent would be in for a treat. Learning from Styles and Michaels could produce a crop of in-ring technicians for WWE.
Styles is one of just nine wrestlers to hold the WWE and TNA World Championships. He is one of just 22 Grand Slam champions in WWE history.
Styles will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame during the week of WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas. He will be inducted alongside Stephanie McMahon, Demolition, and Dennis Rodman.
