On Friday night, the Golden State Warriors had their season come to an end when they lost to the Phoenix Suns by a score of 111-96 in Arizona.
The Warriors will now enter a very interesting offseason with a lot of questions about the future of their roster (and coach).
Steve Kerr Makes Honest Statement About NBA Future

Steve Kerr’s contract will expire this summer.
After the tough loss, Kerr was asked about his future (h/t Dalton Johnson of NBC Sports Bay Area).
Kerr: “I don’t know what’s going to happen. I still love coaching. But I get it. These jobs all have an expiration date. There’s a run that happens, and when the run ends, sometimes it’s time for new blood and new ideas an all that. If that’s the case, then I will be nothing but grateful for the most amazing opportunity any person could have to coach this franchise.”
Kerr has been at the helm since the 2014-15 season.
In that span, the Warriors have made the NBA Finals six times (and won four titles).
He has gone 604-353 in 957 regular season games.
ESPN’s Anthony Slater wrote: “Extended sideline conversation between Steph Curry, Draymond Green and Steve Kerr and then a hug between the three. This is the conclusion of their 12th season together.”

Looking At The Warriors

The Warriors finished the regular season as the tenth seed in the Western Conference with a 37-45 record.
They had defeated the LA Clippers in their first play-in tournament game (before losing to the Suns).
On the road, the Warriors went 16-27 in 43 games.
Nick Friedell wrote: “Kerr makes it clear the Warriors job is the only one he would have next year in coaching. He’s either coming back to coach Steph and co. or he’ll go do something else. Says being able to continue coaching Steph will be “part of the equation” as to whether he returns or not.”
The Warriors had been coming off a season where they lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the second round of the 2025 NBA playoffs.
They last won a title during the 2022 season.
