Timberwolves Coach Will Keep Fans Guessing About Anthony Edwards Injury

While searching for a Game 4 victory against the Denver Nuggets, Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards went down with an injury scare.

Following an awkward landing, Edwards was seen grabbing at his knee. The veteran guard went back to the locker room, leaving the Timberwolves worried about his status moving forward in a critical matchup.

On a bright note, the Timberwolves managed to pick up their third-straight win over the Nuggets, totally protecting home court. Now, the Timberwolves hold a 3-1 series lead, despite being the lower seed in the Western Conference compared to the Nuggets.

However, there is still a lot to be worried about for Minnesota. They lost two key starters amid their third win in a row. They got clarity on Donte DiVincenzo. The Timberwolves are waiting for more on Anthony Edwards.

The Timberwolves don’t have any answers on the Edwards front.

Chris Finch confirmed with reporters that the team doesn’t know anything yet, according to KSTP-TV Sports’ Chris Long.

As Game 4 played on, ESPN’s Shams Charania noted that additional testing needed to be done in order to find answers on Edwards’ setback.

via Shams Charania, ESPN: Anthony Edwards is set to undergo tests on his injured left knee. He had been playing through runner’s knee in his other knee. The Timberwolves starting guards sustain injuries in the first half tonight in Game 4 against Denver.

When Edwards left the game on Saturday, the star guard played in 18 minutes of action. He was struggling from the field, going 1-8 and just 1-3 from three. Edwards had five points and three rebounds before he checked out.

In the three games leading up to Game 4, Edwards was seeing the court for 34 minutes per game. The star guard was struggling with his shot, making just 39.0% from the field. He attempted 9.3 threes per game, averaging 25.0%.

Edwards posted averages of 23.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.7 blocks against the Nuggets.

With Game 4 wrapped up in favor of the Timberwolves, Minnesota now has an opportunity to punch its ticket to the second round on Monday, April 27, in Colorado.
