Steph Curry Predicted to Get Massive Contract Extension From Warriors

Superstar guard Steph Curry has just one year remaining on his current contract with the Golden State Warriors. However, don’t expect him to be hitting free agency following the 2026-27 NBA season.

It’s extremely unlikely that the Warriors would let Curry go into next season on an expiring contract. As a result, they’re widely expected to lock him up longer with an extension over the offseason. That extension could be a massive one.

Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report provided a prediction of what a potential extension for Curry could look like, and he has the Warriors signing Curry to a two-year, $137 million extension. That would keep Curry under contract through the 2028-29 NBA season and comes out to an average of $68.5 million per season.

From Pincus:

The easiest negotiation on the list. The Warriors want to keep Curry for as long as he wants to play. At his age, 38, the most he can extend for is two additional seasons. Curry is above the current 35-percent-of-cap maximum; eligible to start his next deal with a five percent bump in pay. Coach Steve Kerr agreeing to return to the bench suggests a Curry deal will soon follow.

Curry has played 17 seasons in the NBA to this point, and he has reportedly expressed a desire to play 20 seasons. So, a new two-year extension on top of the single season he still has remaining on his current contract would get him to that number.

While the final numbers on an extension for Curry will have to be ironed out, Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy has made it clear that the organization wants to keep Curry around as long as he wants to keep playing.

“That date will come, but we’ve always stated that we want Steph to finish his career here, be here as long as he wants,” Dunleavy said.

“So I’m sure those conversations with happen, and you can predict where it’ll be going, but yeah, I don’t see under any scenario where we don’t want to figure out a way to have him finish here.”

Curry officially becomes extension eligible with the Warriors on July 6.
