Seahawks Trade Rumors Intensify as the NFL Draft Nears

The Seattle Seahawks do not appear as concerned about the team’s running back depth chart as some fans. This explains why a certain trade rumor is gaining steam with the NFL draft fast approaching.

Seattle has been linked to running backs like Jadarian Price with the No. 32 pick. Yet, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Seahawks are a strong candidate to trade out of the first round.

With just four picks in the 2026 NFL draft, general manager John Schneider is looking to add a few more selections. Seahawks fans may be waiting a while to see Seattle’s first selection in the NFL draft.

“Two of Seattle’s greatest needs are running back and … more draft picks,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter wrote in an April 20, 2026, story titled, “2026 NFL draft intel, notes: What Adam Schefter is hearing.” “The Super Bowl champion Seahawks enter this week’s draft with only four picks — Nos. 32, 64, 96 and 188. The Seahawks could be looking to trade out of the first round to stockpile more selections.

“After losing Kenneth Walker III in free agency to the Chiefs, the Seahawks’ running backs include Zach Charbonnet (coming off a torn ACL), former Packers running back Emanuel Wilson, George Holani, Kenny McIntosh, Cam Akers and Velus Jones Jr.,” Schefter continued.

“Seattle could have its choice of many of this draft’s top backs this week, including Notre Dame’s Jadarian Price, Arkansas’ Mike Washington Jr. and Washington’s Jonah Coleman. But nobody would be surprised if the Seahawks move off the 32nd pick to land more picks and address the position a bit later in the draft.”

Here’s what you need to know about the latest Seahawks rumors.

Seahawks Rumors: Seattle Linked to Arkansas RB Mike Washington Jr.

Part of the reason these rumors are gaining steam is the Seahawks could look to select a running back with their second round pick. Seattle has been a popular landing spot for Arkansas running back Mike Washington Jr. with the No. 64 selection.

ESPN’s Jordan Reid’s latest mock draft has the Seahawks snagging Washington in the second round.

“Washington would be a replacement for Super Bowl LX MVP Kenneth Walker III, and he’s a versatile runner with noticeable contact balance,” Reid projected on April 20. “He’s capable of carrying a strong workload early in his career.”

Seahawks GM John Schneider on Replacing Kenneth Walker: ‘That’s a Position That You Can Find Guys’

The Seahawks are still looking for a replacement for Kenneth Walker. Seattle is expected to lean on Zach Charbonnet next season, but the running back is recovering from an ACL injury.

“That’s a position that you can find guys,” Schneider told Seattle Sports’ “Wyman and Bob” when asked about the team’s plan at running back during a March interview. “And obviously, (Walker was) outstanding, and everybody’s really excited for him.

“I mean, that’s a great, great contract for a running back. But George did a great job. We’re really excited about Emmanuel Wilson, who we got from Green Bay, a heavy runner with really nice feet.”

Schneider is no stranger to trading back in the NFL draft, and we could see the general manager do just that to end the first round.
