San Francisco Giants DFA 15-HR Infielder After Adding New RP

Earlier on Monday, the San Francisco Giants made a trade with the Detroit Tigers to bring in relief pitcher Dylan Smith. Now, to make room for Smith on their 40-man roster, the Giants are parting ways with another one of their players.

The Giants have announced that they have designated utilityman Tyler Fitzgerald for assignment.

Fitzgerald played in three games this season with Triple-A Sacramento before this trade, where he went 0-for-12 at the plate. Now, he has been designated for assignment and will be looking to get things back on track, wherever he ends up next.

Fitzgerald is coming off a tough 2025 season. In 72 games with the Giants during this past campaign, he had four home runs, 14 RBIs, and a .217 batting average. This was after he showed promise in 2024 as a rookie, as he had 15 home runs, 17 stolen bases, 19 doubles, 34 RBIs, and a .280 batting average

Fitzgerald could generate some interest, as he is just 28 years old and can play in both the infield and the outfield.
