Sam Darnold is finishing his first season with the Seattle Seahawks but his future wife Katie Hoofnagle is already endearing herself to the 12s. It has been a season of change for Darnold.
The quarterback moved on from the Minnesota Vikings, signing with the Seahawks during the 2025 offseason. Additionally, Darnold and his longtime girlfriend announced their engagement in July 2025, just months after the quarterback joined Seattle.
It has not taken long for Seahawks fans to get behind their new quarterback, and Darnold’s Pro Bowl season does not hurt. The 12s will also appreciate a memorable quote in Hoofnagle’s Instagram profile.
“I’m here so I won’t get fined,” Hoofnagle’s page reads.
The quote is a clear nod to Seahawks legend Marshawn Lynch, who famously uttered a similar phrase when meeting with the media to avoid being fined by the NFL.

Despite being the No. 3 pick in the 2018 NFL draft, it has been quite a journey for Darnold. The quarterback’s tenure did not go quite as planned with the New York Jets.
Seattle marks Darnold’s fifth NFL team as the signal-caller had to prove capable of being an NFL starter after his first three seasons with the Jets. Darnold signed a three-year, $100 million contract with the Seahawks in March 2025, and the stability is helping ease the pressure as the quarterback plans a future with his fiancee.
“The support [from] my girlfriend is unbelievable,” Darnold remarked during a March 17, interview with US Weekly’s Daniel Trainor . “The fact that she just understands it. She’s a former athlete herself, and just gets kind of the grind of everything.
“When I just want to chill, she’s very up for that, especially during the season. …She’s great. She’s always been my biggest supporter. And I love her, and I thank her for that all the time,” Darnold added.
“… If she wants to go somewhere and I just want to chill, she’s like, ‘Let’s go out to dinner. We need to go to dinner.’”

“Amidst the chaos of our everyday lives, every day spent with you is filled with an abundance of peace, laughter, presence, joy, and love,” Hoofnalge said in a June 5, message on Instagram.
“Here’s to another trip around the sun sharing good meals, good music, and good company. Happy 28th birthday to my better half, I love you more 🤍.”
Hoofnagle is likely hoping Darnold has one more NFL game to go after the NFC Championship. This would mean Darnold and the Seahawks would be headed to the Super Bowl.
