Police were initially called to a first-floor apartment for a report of a person stabbed. A subsequent call stated that a person had been shot, and a police officer later told a dispatcher that two victims had been wounded in the attack.

“Someone is bleeding from the neck,” an officer said. “The son is on the floor.”

Police quickly identified a suspect who had reportedly been released from prison on Tuesday. The alleged shooter took off north on Ravenswood and hadn’t immediately been taken into custody.
