Yesterday’s gusty winds continue today across the state and a freeze watch is in effect for Denver and portions of the plains, according to the National Weather Service.
Wind gusts from 50 to 65 mph will sweep over the mountains and foothills, with gusts up to 50 mph across the plains. The Palmer Divide is under a freeze warning while Denver and parts of east central, north central and northeast Colorado are under a freeze watch late tonight through Wednesday morning. Subfreezing temperatures as low as 30 degrees are possible.
Denver will be mostly sunny today with a high of 60 degrees and gusts up to 47 mph. Tonight will be mostly clear with a low of 31 degrees and gusts up to 45 mph, meteorologists at the NWS say.
Wednesday will reach a high of 59 degrees with gusts up to 28 mph. There is a 20% chance of precipitation Wednesday night, with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before 9 p.m. and a slight chance of showers after midnight. The expected low is 35 degrees and wind gusts may get up to 28 mph.
Denver may see more showers on Thursday with a 60% chance of precipitation and a possible thunderstorm after noon. The expected high is 54 degrees with gusts up to 25 mph. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue Thursday night with a slight chance of precipitation through the weekend.

A high wind warning is in effect from 9 a.m. this morning to 7 p.m. this evening across the San Luis Valley, the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, the Wet Mountains, Fremont, Pueblo, Huerfano and western Las Animas counties.
Winds up to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph are expected in the San Luis Valley, Fremont County and southern Interstate 25 Corridor. Gusts may reach 75 mph over the Sangre de Cristo and Wet Mountains. Winds may blow down trees and power lines and travel could be difficult for high profile vehicles, according to the NWS.
Portions of the mountains are under a winter weather advisory until 6 p.m. this evening with slippery road conditions, blowing snow causing reduced visibility and difficult travel expected.
Gore, Elkhead, Park and Elk Mountains, Central Mountain valleys and the Flat Tops may may see snow accumulation of 3 to 6 inches with wind gusts ranging from 50 to 60 mph above the tree line.
Snow accumulation of 4 to 8 inches and wind gusts up to 60 mph is expected for Rabbit Ears Pass, the Medicine Bow and Mosquito Ranges, Summit County mountains, the Rocky Mountain National Park and the Indian Peaks, NWS meteorologists say.
