Patriots Predicted to Land ‘Twitchy’ Pass Rusher to Bolster Defense

The New England Patriots are officially back as a Super Bowl contender. After a brutal season two years ago, Mike Vrabel came in and led the team to the big game in his first season as the franchise’s head coach.

Heading into the 2026 NFL season, the expectations are even higher for the Patriots. Anything short of another run to the Super Bowl would be a disappointment.

While all eyes are on the present, New England has a chance to have a years-long championship window. Drake Maye, the team’s rising star quarterback, is entering just his third season in the NFL. He’ll be around for many years to come.

With that being said, the Patriots will need to make sure that they continue making the right moves for the future. New England may have an extremely talented roster right now, but the front office will need to make sure that the roster remains competitive for years to come.

Keeping that in mind, a new prediction has been made for the Patriots to bring in a talented young piece for the defense.

New England Patriots Predicted to Land Intriguing Defensive End

In a new way-too-early 2027 mock draft, SportsGrid has made a prediction for New England. They believe that Ohio State’s Kenyatta Jackson would be a good fit for the Patriots.

“New England’s defensive philosophy has always prized disruptive edge rushers who announce their presence with extreme authority in the backfield,” they wrote.

“Jackson possesses twitchy get-off and violent hand usage that allows him to disengage from blocks and ragdoll quarterbacks. The Patriots add a relentless pass-rushing weapon to keep their front seven aggressive.”

Needless to say, it’s way too early to know whether or not New England will even have a chance to draft Jackson. His draft stock also depends on what kind of season he puts together with the Buckeyes in 2026. However, it’s an intriguing potential fit on paper.

What Would Kenyatta Jackson Bring to the Patriots?

Standing in at 6-foot-6 and 265 pounds, Jackson is an intimidating physical presence off of the edge. He has shown flashes of big-time pass rushing potential.

During the 2025 college football season at Ohio State, Jackson racked up 28 tackles to go along with 6.5 sacks and two forced fumbles.

Across his entire four-year career with the Buckeyes, Jackson has totaled 53 tackles, 9.5 sacks, and three defended passes.

There are a lot of reasons for Patriots fans to be excited about the future. Adding a young pass rusher like Jackson could help keep that excitement in place for more years to come.
