Patriots Are Super Bowl Bound: Opponent, Date, and Game Time

Well, that didn’t take long. After just a brief seven year hiatus, the New England Patriots are back in the Super Bowl.

This time, there’s no Tom Brady. Or Bill Belichick. Or Julian Edelman, Rob Gronkowski, Danny Amendola, or any other member of that 2018 team (the one exception being Josh McDaniels). A failed rebuild with Mac Jones lasted just a few years, and in their second go at re-tooling the roster, New England has found the winning formula and is back in the Super Bowl for the NFL leading 12th time in franchise history.

Now that the dust has settled on the NFC Championship, New England now knows their opponent for the biggest sports event of the year.

Patriots vs. Seahawks: Date, Time, and Location

Super Bowl LX is a rematch of Super Bowl XLIX, when the Patriots defeated the Seattle Seahawks in a thrilling 28-24 game. Malcom Butler made one of the most iconic plays in Super Bowl history to seal the win for New England.

Super Bowl LX between New England and Seattle will kick off on Sunday, Feb. 8 at 6:30 p.m. eastern time. Of course, the game is being held at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, the home stadium of the San Francisco 49ers, so the game will kick off at 3:30 p.m. in the pacific time zone.

Within minutes of the Seahawks win over the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship, Draft Kings released their initial odds for the Super Bowl.

The Patriots are opening as four and a half point underdogs in the Super Bowl, at +185 on the moneyline. The O/U is set at 46.5.

All odds are subject to change between now and the day of the game.

Paths to the Super Bowl for New England and Seattle

For as much of a shock as it is for New England to have reached the Super Bowl, it’s almost the same for Seattle, if you go off of preseason expectations.

The Patriots had 80-1 odds to win the Super Bowl ahead of the season; 20 other teams had better odds than them. Other teams with 80-1 odds were the Jacksonville Jaguars, Miami Dolphins, and Atlanta Falcons.

But Seattle wasn’t supposed to be here either. The Seahawks had 60-1 odds before the season, tied with the Dallas Cowboys and with 18 teams ahead of them.

The Washington Commanders, Cincinnati Bengals, Minnesota Vikings, and Arizona Cardinals all had better odds to win the Super Bowl than either the Pats or Seahawks.

New England and Seattle enter the Super Bowl with a combined record of 33-6. Since the onset of November, the Pats and Seattle are a combined 22-2; New England’s sole loss was to the Buffalo Bills while Seattle’s was to the Rams, who they just defeated to clinch their spot in the Super Bowl.

The Pats and Seahawks have played each other 20 times in NFL history, with the Seahawks winning 11 of those contests. They’ve played three times since Super Bowl XLIX, in which Seattle has won each of the contests.
